NEET 2020 Exam Latest Updates

NEET 2020 Exam update shows that the National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to conduct the NEET 2020 exam on September 13, 2020. NTA had extended the last date of correction window facility to July 20th. The total number of candidates appearing as per the latest NEET 2020 Exam updates is 16.84 lakh to get admission into MBBS, BDS, BVSc & AH courses offered in various medical colleges in India. The National Testing Agency conducts the NEET 2020 exam, as an undergraduate qualification test for MBBS, BDS and other related medical courses. The academic qualification for appearing in NEET exams is 10+ 2 in science stream with the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The NEET 2020 syllabus if followed diligently will give a lot of depth to the student’s academic strive. The NEET 2020 has been rescheduled to September 13th for now, following several postponements due to Covid-19 outbreak in the country. NEET-UG is conducted for Undergraduate Medical courses like MBBS and BDS, while the NEET-PG is conducted for Post Graduate Medical Courses like M.S and M.D. The exam dates for NEET 2020 are around the corner and a parents’ association from Gujarat has filed a petition in the Supreme Court in support of the exams. The NEET 2020 Exams have become a matter of contention between parents, students and academic bodies. While students and parents remain worried due to increasing Covid 19 cases in the country, the academic bodies that are conducting the exams are assuring that all safety measures will be taken. The exam dates for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 Exams are nearing and according to the revised schedule, it will be held on September 13, 2020. Now there are opposing petitions in the Supreme Court regarding the exam too. A parents’ association from Gujarat has filed a petition in support of the exams just days after a group of 11 students filed a plea seeking its cancellation.

Opposing petitions

A report by leading daily Hindustan Times says that Gujarat Parents Association has filed a plea before the Supreme Court asking that the exams be held according to schedule. The parents’ body says that cancellation of exams will lead to the loss of an academic year and impact their professional life.

“These exams are so important that they determine students’ career and also the entire life. As such, the Respondent Authorities must take into consideration as a relevant factor, the fact that any further deferment of the examination will further add to the stress levels of the students resulting in further traumatising the students with the uncertainty of their future and thereby severely impacting their academic performance in the ultimate examination to be held in future,” the reports quoted the petition.

The petition comes after 11 students from different states filed a plea in the Supreme Court earlier this month seeking the postponement of NEET-Undergraduate examinations due to the rising Covid 19 cases in the country.

“Conducting the aforesaid examination across India at such perilous time, is nothing else but putting lives of lakhs of young students (including petitioners herein) at utmost risk and danger of disease and death. The best recourse at this stage can be to wait for some more time, let COVID-19 crisis subside and then only conduct these exams, in order to save lives of the students and their parents,” said the plea which was filed through advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava.

The NEET 2020 examination is to be conducted on September 13, 2020.
